Visits to the alloty have been short and sweet over the past few weeks and have usually culminated in Mrs H and I sliding around in the mud under increasingly angry downpours. It's been a bit like Glastonbury but without the rubbish music and spelt. As it's raining again it's a great opportunity to relax with a coffee, pop on some Gary Barlow (I'm kidding) and upload some photos...
Above: Day one. Not much going on, some raspberries along the back (good), a pear and a cherry tree. The front half of the plot consists of a mega-bed of strawberries and the rest is grass.
Below: The rear of the plot looking to the bridge. One of the local swan population blithely swimming into view. A recent incident (Braceletgate) with the feathery ingrates saw a routine feeding almost turn into Dealey Plaza for Mrs H when the bread ran dry.
Recent visits have seen us finish the rabbit fencing and put on the front gate. We won't be totally rabbit proof until the back gate goes on and next door fix their gates on (we have decided to forego a dividing fence down the middle of the plots). For now though, the gloves are off after our little bob-tailed chums munched an unprotected dog rose sapling down to tiny, neatly gnawed stumps. Nice.
Time to look up some rabbit recipes...
